Report: Former All-Pro RB Bell set to join Chiefs

Former All-Pro running back Le’Veon Bell told ESPN on Thursday that he will sign with the defending Super Bowl champion Chiefs.

Bell, 28, joined the Jets last season after sitting out all of the previous season and had 863 yards and three TDs in 17 total games with the team.

The Chiefs play the Jets in Week 8.

■ The NFL is requiring players and team staff members to isolate if they experience COVID-19 symptoms, even if their most recent test result was negative. On Thursday, Browns WR Odell Beckham Jr. was sent home because of an illness and Lions RBAdrian Peterson didn’t practice due to an illness. There were no specifics yet on Beckham’s illness, but ESPN reported that Peterson’s wasn’t related to COVID-19. ... The

Falcons shut down their facility after a team personnel officia tested positive for COVID-19. ... Hall of Fame DEFred Dean died Wednesday after being hospitaliz­ed for COVID-19, according to reports. He was 68. Dean began his career with the Chargers before a trade to the 49ers in 1981. He won two Super Bowls with the 49ers.

College football: Saturday’s game between No. 8 Cincinnati and Tulsa was postponed Thursday because of positive COVID-19 cases at Cincinnati and quarantini­ng of athletes at the school. The game was reschedule­d for Dec. 5. ... Former Florida State coach Bobby Bowden was released from a hospital after being treated for COVID-19. The 90-year-old College Hall of Famer was hospitaliz­ed Oct. 6.
