The Morning Call

Police ID man killed on Northeast Extension

-

The pedestrian hit and killed Thursday morning on the Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike has been identified as 37-year-old Michael Quimby of Cato, New York.

The Lehigh County coroner’s office, which is investigating the death along with state police at Fogelsville, said the cause and manner of Quimby’s death are pending further investigation and testing.

Police received calls around 4:40 a.m. for reports of a man walking in and out of traffic near mile marker 46.4 in Lower Milford Township.

By the time police arrived, he had been hit by more than one vehicle in the right lane and died at the scene.

The highway was closed then and traffic was diverted at Quakertown exit for hours. The turnpike reopened late Thursday morning.
