City re­mem­bers, hon­ors Smull, Robinson

Eas­ton Mayor Sal Panto Jr., left, and Ge­orge Smull lower Eas­ton’s flag to half staff dur­ing a cer­e­mony Fri­day to honor for­mer City Coun­cil Pres­i­dent Josie Smull, Ge­orge’s late wife. Josie Smull was elected to City Coun­cil and served from 1998-2002. She was coun­cil pres­i­dent 2000-02. Smull was heav­ily in­volved in Eas­ton ac­tiv­i­ties, in­clud­ing the Eas­ton Peace Can­dle. On Mon­day, Panto plans to hold a sec­ond cer­e­mony to honor the pass­ing of John Robinson, a suc­cess­ful busi­ness­man in the city. Robinson was ac­tive in many or­ga­ni­za­tions, in­clud­ing the Eas­ton Branch of the NAACP and the Northamp­ton County Jail Board. Dur­ing Mon­day’s cer­e­mony, the Eas­ton NAACP flag will also be raised.
