1996: East Stroudsburg University blocks three punts, returning two for touchdowns and setting up a touchdown with the other, as the Warriors upset No. 1-ranked IUP 25-12 in a raging Nor’easter storm at Eiler-Martin Stadium.
1994: KristenMcCannscores four goals in Emmaus’ 8-0field hockey win over Freedom to set an East Penn Conference single-season scoring mark with 41. The win caps a 16-0 league season for the Green Hornets, who scored what’s also believed to be an EPC record 105 goals during the season.
1991: Mark Steinmeyer runs for a career-high 149 yards and scores three touchdowns to helpKutztown(3-3)handWest Chester (5-2) its worst PSAC loss ever, 42-3. It’s also the Golden Bears first-ever win at WestChester’s Farrell Stadium.
1960: Five future members of the basketball Hall of Fame are in action at Bethlehem’s Memorial Gym as the Syracuse Nationals beat the Philadelphia Warriors 132-124 in a preseason game. Wilt Chamberlain scores 43 points, Paul Arizin 29 and Tom Gola 20 for the Warriors while Hal Greer and DolphSchayes play for the Nationals.
