Lizzo, Monae named to Out100 list
Award-winning singers Lizzo and Janelle Monae, Apple CEO Tim Cook and MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow have made Out magazine’s 2020 Out100 list.
Pride Media announced Thursday that its annual list honoring the 100 most influential LGBTQ+ people of the year includes 99-year-old trans WWII U.S. Navy fighter pilot Robina Asti, comedian Wanda Sykes, fashion icon Andre Leon Tall, the creators of “Queer Eye,” Black Lives Matter Toronto co-founder Janaya Khan and actors Jameela Jamil, Wilson Cruz, Keke Palmer, Jeremy
Pope and Joe Mantello.
Honorees will be celebrated Saturday at the 2020 Out100 Virtual Honoree Induction Ceremony, which will stream live at Out.com/Out100Live.
Others who made this year’s list include former baseball player Billy Bean, teen rapper Kidd Kenn and actors Lili Reinhardt, Cheyenne Jackson, Jonathan Bennett and Dashaun Wesley.
Lil Baby, Ricch, Swift win Apple MusicAwards: Rapper
Lil Baby has been named artist of the year at the second annual Apple Music Awards.
The rapper, who topped the charts this year with his sophomore album “My Turn” and reached the No. 3 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart with “The Bigger Picture,” was handselected by the streaming service’s global editorial team to win the title. The editorial team also named Taylor Swift songwriter of the year, and Megan Thee Stallion breakthrough artist of the year.
Roddy Ricch, whose successful year included a Grammy win, No. 1 album and No. 1 song, won two Apple Music honors that were based on streaming data. His debut album, “Please Excuse Me for Being Antisocial,” has been streamed more than 1.5 billion times on the platform and was named top album of the year. His smash hit “The Box” logged more than 460 million Apple Music streams and was crowned top song of the year.
Wrongful death suit filed over A wrongRivera’s drowning: ful death lawsuit has been filed over the drowning of “Glee” actor Naya Rivera, who died this past summer while boating with her 4-year-old son on a California lake.
The suit, filed Tuesday, blames Ventura County and managers of Lake Piru for her accidental death July 8 at the lake northwest of Los Angeles. It was filed on behalf of her son, Josey Hollis Dorsey, by Ryan Dorsey, Rivera’s ex-husband and the boy’s father and guardian and also on behalf of her estate.
Rivera, 33, had rented a pontoon boat on the lake. Her son was found sleeping and alone on the drifting boat later that afternoon. Rivera’s body was found floating in a 30-footdeep area of the lake five days later.
