Drive-thru sites mushroom

Cars line up Friday outside a tent on St. Luke’s University Health Network’s Anderson Campus in Bethlehem Township to take the COVID-19 test. The site is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, and from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. A screening by your doctor is required in advance to qualify for the St. Luke’s site. Drive-thru testing sites have popped up all over the Lehigh Valley as the cases of coronavirus spike.

As the COVID-19 pandemic surges in Pennsylvania, moredrivethru testing sites are operating in the Lehigh Valley.

Drugstores such as CVS, RiteAid, and Walgreens are offering contactless testing options, as are big box stores such as Walmart. Walk-up testing is also offered at a limited number of these sites for patients whodon’t drive.

People using atesting site should contact their insurers to confirm the test will meetcoverage criteria. Screening surveys are required for anyone scheduling a test.

Additional testing sites may be available in the area through a health care provider. Testing sites are setup around the Le high Valley at health centers and hospitals.

Due to high demand, there may be no available times at locations listed on the day and time you’re attempting to schedule. The availability of testing kits, long lines, weather, and rate of transmission in the area you’re visiting mayaffect day-to-day operations.

Diagnostic lab tests may take 72 hours to yield results. Rapid diagnostic tests take upto24hours, and rapid antigen tests show results in as little as one hour.
