ROAD TRIP TIPS
With cities, counties and states setting different COVID-19 restriction rules, people who insist on traveling for Thanksgiving will need to conduct some research before leaving. AAA makes the following recommendations:
Check if there are any quarantine rules for your destination, and if they apply to you. For example, New Jersey requires visitors from most of the country to quarantine for 14 days before entering but is waiving that rule for bordering states, including Pennsylvania. Some states, such as Massachusetts, will waive their restrictions if a traveler produces proof of a negative COVID-1 9 test result that is less than 72 hours old. Others, including Florida, have no travel restrictions. AAA offers an interactive map on its website showing rules in place in the U.S. and Canada.
Be prepared. Many restaurants, shops and rest stops closed due to the pandemic. Travelers may want to pack water and snacks for the trip.
Make informed reservations. People staying overnight in a hotel may want to inquire about cleaning routines, mask policies and social distancing rules. Dining options may be limited. Make sure you are comfortable with these policies before booking a room.
