Gerald J. Roncolato
Gerald J. Roncolato, 96, of Meadville, Pa, died Saturday, December 5, 2020 of Covid-19. Born in Allentown, Pennsylvania, January 4, 1924, son of John and Mary Roncolato. Jerry (or Uncle Jack) married Polly (Pauline) Sauerman on July 12, 1947. She preceded him in death in 2002. A graduate of Allentown High School, Jerry enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1943, serving combat duty in the Atlantic and Pacific. Returning home, he attended Moravian College, later completing an MBA from Harvard University. He held multiple positions in business management including the president of Roblin Steel, Buffalo NY. The great loves of Jerr y's life were his wife “butch”, two sons, six grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren. He imparted to each the value of family, friends, integrity, and hard work. He was a devout Catholic who found community in the Order of the Knights of Columbus, peace in nightly prayers with his son, and service through the making and sharing of rosaries. Jerry is survived by son, Captain Gerard D. Roncolato, USN (retired) of Bristow, VA, son Dr. David P. Roncolato, Allegheny College, (Reverend Sarah D. Roncolato). In addition, he is survived by grandchildren Carolyn Roncolato (Mike Allgeier), Leanne Roncolato (Alex Roomets), Daniel Roncolato (Kylie), Jonathan Roncolato, Nicholas Roncolato (Juliana), Joseph Roncolato (Ellie Whitt), and great-grandchildren Lola, Desi, Brody, Buckley, Briggs, Benjamin, Carter, and Kai. Proceeding him in death were his siblings, Keats, Rose, Tess, Babes and Pep. Jerry Roncolato's life motto: “No problems, only opportunities.” His longevity can be attributed to his positive outlook and good red wine. Due to Covid, a Mass of the Resurrection will be at a future date which will be announced. Arrangements are under the direction of STEPHEN P.
