A look back at Lehigh Valley sports stories over the years from Dec. 10.

2010: Quarterbac­k Brendan Nosovitch accounts for 601 yards of total offense and has a hand in all seven touchdowns as Central Catholic beats Archbishop Wood 49-27 in a PIAA Class 3A football semifinal at Bethlehem Area School District Stadium. Nosovitch throws for a school single-game record 418 yards and fires five touchdown passes, tying his own singlegame mark. He also ran for another 183 yards and two scores as Central Catholic (15-0) advances to the Class 3A state final against District 3 champion Bishop McDevitt. 2005: Both Liberty and Wilson fall short of winning a PIAA football championsh­ip. Liberty falls to McKeesport 49-10 in the Class 4A final, giving up 439 yards while totaling just 1 58. Meanwhile, D.J. Lenehan sets a Class 2A finals record with 27 completion­s in 52 attempts for 346 yards, but also throws three intercepti­ons including two that set up touchdowns in South Park’s 28-17 win over Wilson.

1994: Walsh Jesuit of suburban Cleveland retains its spot as the top scholastic wrestling team in the country by edging No. 2 Northampto­n 28-27 in the marquee matchup of the third-annual Valley Youth House Elite Duals at Liberty. The loss snaps the Konkrete Kids’ 50-match winning streak. Walsh also beats Easton 31-24 and Nazareth 36-27 to complete a sweep of the area’s top three wrestling powers.

1985: Kevin Reinhard scores 17 points and blocks seven shots to lead Northweste­rn to a 47-45 win over Northern Lehigh, snapping the Bulldogs’ 27-game Centennial League boys basketball winning streak. 1965: Jerry Frey scores a school-record 42 points to lead Palisades to a 97-62 win at New Hope.

1955: Bill Smith and Denny Roth each score 24 points and Muhlenberg sets a school and floor single-game scoring record in a 109-91 win over Lebanon Valley before 3,165 at Memorial Hall.
