With COVID refusing to play along with Hollywood’s efforts to open up movie theaters, much of the studios’ 2021 slate is likely to be released through streaming services or held back until 2022.

That said, there are many of potentially good flicks on the horizon, some of which feature the work of area actors. Below, a closer look at what eight Lehigh Valley-connected performers will be up to in 2021.

Amanda Seyfried: A native of Allentown, the “Mamma Mia,” “Mean Girls” and “Mank” star will pop up in two features: “A Mouthful of Air,” a look at postpartum depression co-starring Paul Giamatti and Amy Irving; and “Things Heard & Seen,” a Netflix thriller with Karen Allen and F. Murray Abraham.

Daniel Dae Kim: The former Bethlehem and Easton resident flexes his muscles in “Stowaway,” an action-packed adventure about a mission to Mars, which veers off course thanks to an unexpected passenger. The movie co-stars Toni Collette, Anna Kendrick and Shamier Anderson.

Daniel Roebuck: For his follow-up to “Getting Grace,” the Bethlehem native has co-written, co-directed and will star in “Lucky Louie,” the locally shot saga of a retired cop, four ex-convicts and a behavioral science student who team up to solve a 50-year-old bank robbery. Roebuck plans to follow the faith-based “Lucky Louie” with another Lehigh Valley shot feature, “The Hail Mary.”

Bailey Noble: It’s going to be a really good year for this Bethlehem native, who is best known for her turn on HBO’s “True Blood.” In 2021, Noble will appear in Sean Penn’s latest directorial effort “Flag Day,” which is about a father (Penn) who lives a double life as bank robber, counterfeiter and con man. The cast includes Josh Brolin and Downingtown’s Miles Teller. Noble will also turn up in the sci-fi thriller “Apophenia.”

Winslow Fegley: Following up on his work in “Timmy Failure” and “Come Play,” the youngest Fegley, an Allentown resident, stars in two upcoming features: “Nightbooks,” a Netflix chiller co-starring Shickshinny’s Krysten Ritter; and “Spinning Gold,” a biopic about Neil

Bogart, the Casablanca Records founder who oversaw the label during the disco-crazed 1970s. The cast includes Michelle Monaghan, Jason Isaacs and Neil Patrick Harris.

Tim Heidecker: While the Allentown native usually pops up in TV projects such as “Tim and Eric’s Bedtime Stories,” he also occasionally works as an actor for hire. This year, the funnyman will appear in “Manifest West,” a coming-of-age drama about a teenager beginning to chafe at her parent’s off-the-grid lifestyle; and “Some of Our Stallions,” a mystery project that also features Mike Judge of “Beavis and Butthead” fame.

Kate Micucci: Disney’s animated adventure “Flora & Ulysses” unreels the story of a young girl and her pet squirrel. The family flick features the voice talent of Micucci, a former Nazareth resident, as well as Alyson Hannigan and Ben Schwartz.

Ja’Siah Young: After starring in the Netflix series “Raising Dion,” the Easton resident plays Justin Simpson in “Nicole and O.J,” which is being billed as a “satirical conspiracy thriller revealing the relationship between O.J. and Nicole Simpson.”
