The coronavirus pandemic surpassed a milestone that once seemed unimaginable: 500,000 deaths in the United States. It’s a reminder of the virus's reach into all corners of the country and communities of every size and makeup. In recent weeks, virus deaths have fallen from more than 4,000 reported on some days in January to an average of fewer than 1,900 per day. Experts warn that over 100,000 more deaths are likely in the next few months, despite a massive campaign to vaccinate people. The 500,000 death toll is roughly equal to the number of Americans killed in World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War combined, or akin to a 9/11 terrorist attack every day for nearly six months.

Dale was hard-working man from a young age, dedicating himself wholeheartedly to creating a strong foundation for his family. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather; he took care of his wife and children doing the best he could to teach and guide them. Dale always seemed to have all the answers to life's problems. He was a selfless man and a good friend to all. Dale always had a soft spot for animals. Being a kind and empathetic man, he adopted many cats throughout the years, giving them a safe and loving home. Spending time with family and dancing to oldies with his wife Carol was one of his truest joys in life; they were always on the dance floor. He enjoyed watching the Gaither Vocal Band while relaxing with a good glass of wine. Dale's specialty martinis became a staple on all holidays and special occasions. He enjoyed the happiness of others and could always put a smile on your face. He loved to tell stories of the good old days and memories made throughout the years. Dale is so loved and will be greatly missed by many; he will live on with us until we meet again. He is survived by wife Carol A. (Hessinger) Tomel; daughter Michele D. Tomel-Larson; son Dale J. Tomel; granddaughters Kaila B. Larson and Marissa N. Larson-Miata with husband Dallas; mother Catherine H. (Heckman) Tomel; brother Joseph J. Tomel Jr. with wife Donna; predeceased by father Joseph J. Tomel. Services and interment will be private.
