ATHLETES OF THE WEEK NOMINEES

The Morning Call sports staff will nominate three male and three female athletes each week from area schools based on their performance from the previous week. You are invited to vote for one male and one female athlete. Winners will be announced in Friday’s Morning Call Sports section. One male and one female winner will be awarded a $500 scholarship by CH Foundation. Voting is open from 5 p.m. Monday to 9 a.m. Thursday at themorningcall.com/ athleteoftheweek

Male nominees

CJ Miles (Bangor basketball): Game-high 22 points in 57-24 win over Northern Lehigh and game-high 33 points in loss to Notre Dame.

Joe Galle (Notre Dame basketball): Gamehigh 20 points, including 5 3-pointers, in win over Southern Lehigh.

Matthew Campbell (PM West basketball): Game-high 20 points, including 4 treys, in win over ES North.

Female nominees

Talya Brugler (Nazareth basketball): 22 points in 56-25 win over Freedom.

Emily Vaughan (Central Catholic basketball): Game-best 22 points in narrow 36-34 win over Twin Valley.

Brenna Ortwein (Freedom basketball): Tied her career-high of 19 points in 60-54 win over Bethlehem Catholic.
