Food Network’s Alton Brown to mix up some fun at Easton’s State Theatre this fall

- Jennifer Sheehan

One of Food Network’s most popular and well-known stars will come to Easton’s State Theatre this fall, bringing with him all the ingredients for a good time: Cooking, comedy, music and potentially dangerous science stuff.

Alton Brown’s “Beyond the Eats,” a live culinary variety show, will stop at the State on Oct. 27 as part of his North American tour.

Brown is one of the most recognizable faces of the Food Network, starring on shows such as “Cutthroat Kitchen,” “Iron Chef America” and “The Next Iron Chef.” But it’s his long-running show “Good Eats” that earned him fame. The show aired for 13 years on Food Network, and was unlike anything on TV then or now with its quirky mixture of recipes, practical cooking tips and instructions. Brown supported it all by scientific explanation, both serious and hilarious.

Brown is producing “Good Eats: Reloaded,” for which he’s shooting new material to “renovate and repair” classic Good Eats episodes, and he rebooted the series in 2019 with “The Return of the Eats” on Food Network.

He is also a two-time James Beard Award winner, the culinary industry’s highest honor as well as the winner of a Peabody Award.

In “Beyond the Eats,” Brown warns: “Prepare for an evening unlike any other and if I call for volunteers … think twice.” He’ll once again mix together science, music and food into two hours of pure entertainment. “Plus, you’ll see things I’ve never been allowed to do on TV,” he says.

This isn’t Brown’s first time performing in Easton. In 2017, his “Alton Brown Live: Eat Your Science” made at stop at the historic theater and Brown visited sites around the city, including stopping at the Easton

Public Market.
