Bethlehem baker gets a boost from the Philly Sixers
For the Philadelphia 76ers, baked treats from Bethlehem’s Made by Lino are a slam dunk.
The Sixers recently spotlighted the bakery business on the team’s Instagram page as part of its promotion of small businesses.
The team’s account has 2.6M followers.
“We want all the baked goods,” the NBA team commented on a post, featuring a video with the business’ owner, Melanie Lino.
In the video, Lino introduces herself, as a collage of her spectacularly delicious-looking treats plays. She is the owner of Made by Lino and a co-owner of Lit Coffee Roastery & Bakeshop in South Bethlehem. She’s also a co-founder of Afros in Nature, a nonprofit collective that connects Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) with nature.
She helped introduce the Sixers’ game against the New York Knicks and wished Joel “Jojo” Embiid a happy birthday.
She also reminded Sixers’ fans to support local businesses like hers.
“Shop small and support local businesses all across the map,” she said.
As of Thursday morning, the video had received more than 10,700 views.
Lino’s baked goods are as gorgeous as they are delicious. She tries to source locally as much as she can, using fresh cage-free eggs and unbleached, organic flour.
“Baking, to me, is more than just mixing a batter and popping it in the oven; It is an art form,” she says on her website. “It is a blank canvas, open to create unique flavor combinations, confusing the palate from what it’s used to, the norm. “
You’ll find her freshbaked, generously sized cookies, macarons and more sweet and savory treats at Lit and through her website, www.madebylino.
