FATHER JOHN MARCANTONI­O

has assumed the position of Rector of St. Brigid’s Episcopal Church, 310 Madison Ave., Nazareth.

Since his reception as an Episcopal priest in 2010, Father John has provided supply for many churches in the dioceses of Bethlehem and Newark, New Jersey. Most recently, he served as Vicar at Trinity Church, West Pittston; Associate at the Cathedral Church of the Nativity, Bethlehem, and sabbatical supply at St. Andrew’s, Allentown.

Father John belonged to a Roman Catholic religious order, Salesians of Don Bosco, for 24 years, 12 of them as a priest. His priestly ministry included the roles of high school teacher and administra­tor, associate pastor, and executive director of a United Way-affiliated Boys & Girls Club.

Father John completed his MDiv studies while achieving a M.A. in Theology at the Pontifical College Josephinum, Columbus, Ohio, and later obtained an M.S. in Religious Education and Youth Ministry from Fordham University, New York.

Father John’s work experience includes three years as a multidisci­plinary case management coordinato­r for a Child Abuse Unit within a county prosecutor’s office, and twenty 20 years in healthcare management as a patient experience director.

An avid music and Yankees baseball fan, a die-hard drummer, and a lapsed student of Qi-gong, Father John lives in Bethlehem with his wife, two sons, and pet pig, Fiona.

BRYAN HOLTEN, ORGANIST, will perform virtually at 4 p.m. Sunday. The sanctuary of the First Presbyteri­an Church of Bethlehem will serve as the setting for the concert, which will be livestream­ed on the church’s Facebook page (@FirstPresB­ethlehem) and will be followed by a “meet and greet” via Zoom.

Holten, artist-lecturer in organ performanc­e at Moravian College, will explore the full range of color and texture afforded by the First Pres grand Moeller/Casavant pipe organ, offering a varied program of works from Bach through the romantic French masters. He attended the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York, where he completed the Master of Music and Doctor of Musical Arts degrees in Organ Performanc­e and Literature. He has studied organ with David Higgs, Michel Bouvard, and Edoardo Bellotti, in addition to a curriculum in keyboard technique, improvisat­ion, and harpsichor­d. In 2014, he received the Jim Cochran Recital Award, in recognitio­n of his second DMA degree recital.

EAST BANGOR UNITED METHODIST COMMUNITY CHURCH, 136. W. Central Ave., will hold Holy Week services starting with a distributi­on of palms at 10 a.m. on Palm Sunday. That service will be in-person and on Zoom.
