1998: Saucon Valley rallies for three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning, including Deena Moore’s RBI triple, and beats Southern Lehigh 6-5 in a Colonial League softball game, snapping a 26-year losing streak to the Spartans.
1991: The U.S. senior national men’s volleyball team defeats Canada in four games (15-8, 3-15, 15-11, 15-11) in an exhibition match at Rockne Hall.

1985: The Sunners, led by Allentown softball pitching legend Ty Stofflet, announce they will play the upcoming season at Patriots Park and Bicentennial Park in Allentown. The team’s resume includes three American Softball Association national titles and the 1976 ISC World Tournament championship.
1968: Wayne Grube, an Easton grad and a three-year assistant to Bobby Rute, is named as Rute’s successor as the Red Rovers’ head coach. Grube will compile an 81-44-6 in 12 seasons with Easton, then go 63-45 in 10 years at Wilson.
1965: Allen’s Carol Mohn becomes the first area girl to post a victory in a boys varsity competition during a tennis match against Reading, defeating Ernie Meining 6-2, 6-4 at No. 4 singles.
