A look back at Lehigh Valley sports stories over the years from April 9.

2011: Terry Daubert, Northampto­n High School’s wrestling coach, resigns after 11 years at the helm. During Daubert’s tenure he was named the state’s coach of the year and had four of his wrestlers win PIAA Class 3A gold medals in 2003.

2009: The Lehigh Valley IronPigs open their second Internatio­nal League season as they did their first — with a loss, this time by an 11-3 score to visiting Scranton/Wilkes-Barre before a capacity crowd of 10,000 at CocaCola Park.

2007: USA Cycling names the Lehigh Valley Velodrome one of three official national track training centers, along with velodromes in Carlsbad, Calif., and Colorado Springs.

1989: While the Masters holds the golfing world’s attention, Dieruff grad Jim Booros edges Mike Donald on the fourth hole of a sudden-death playoff to win the PGA Deposit Guaranty Golf Classic in Harrisonbu­rg, Miss. The two are tied for first with a 203 after three rounds when the tournament was shortened due to inclement weather. Booros pockets $36,000 for the victory, his biggest payday ever.

1997: Palmerton’s Nicole Levandusky, who finished her career as one of the leading scorers in District 11 basketball history with 2,662 points, announces she will attend Xavier University.

1991: Andrea Dagostino’s goal with 8:48 left gives No. 5 Lafayette (7-1) a 9-8 women’s lacrosse victory over top-ranked Penn State (8-1).
