Canucks still waiting; Leafs acquire Foligno

The Canucks didn’t reopen their practice facilities Sunday as planned after Jay Beagle was placed in the NHL’s COVID-19 protocols, the league announced in a statement.

The NHL said the team’s facilities will remain closed until at least Monday, though plans for the team to resume playing Friday are still on track.

Adam Gaudette, who was the first Canucks player to test positive for the coronaviru­s, was taken out of the protocols Sunday. There are now 19 Canucks players on the list.

Eight Canucks games have been postponed since March 31.

The Maple Leafs acquired Blue Jackets captain Nick Foligno as part of a three-team deal. The Jackets receive a 2021 first- and 2022 fourth-round pick from the Leafs and retains half of Foligno’s $5.5 million salary-cap hit. The Sharks get a 2021 fourthroun­der from the Leafs for taking 25% of Foligno’s salary. The Leafs also get F Stefan Noesen from the Sharks. Foligno, 33, has seven goals and nine assists for 16 points in 42 games this season . ... Predators F Michael McCarron was suspended two games and fined $12,069 for an illegal check to the head of the Lightning’s Yanni Gourde on Saturday night. McCarron was given a match penalty for an illegal check to the head and thrown out of the game.

NBA: Warriors rookie C James Wiseman, the No. 2 pick in the draft, suffered a tear to the meniscus in his right knee Saturday and may miss the rest of the season, ESPN reported. Wiseman is averaging 11.5 points, 5.8 rebounds and 21.4 minutes per game . ... The Celtics used a 31-3 run to beat the Nuggets 105-87, ending the hosts’ eight-game win streak.

Soccer: Spanish league leader Atlético Madrid stumbled to a 1-1 draw against host Real Betis. Atlético, which was playing without suspended top scorer Luis Suarez, holds just a one-point lead over Real Madrid and Barcelona.
