Mayfair Festival of the Arts to return, in person, at Cedar Crest College
After a one-year hiatus — thanks to COVID-19 — the Mayfair Festival of the Arts will return, in person, to Cedar Crest College.
The festival will be May 28-30 and feature a variety of artists, food and craft vendors, as well as music and live performances. Featured musical acts include Central City Orchestra, Large Flowerheads, Jimmy and the Parrots and GoGo Gadjet.
Admission to the festival will be free.
The festival was canceled last year as the COVID-19 pandemic gripped the Valley. Cedar Crest brought the more than 30-year Mayfair tradition back to Allentown and the Lehigh Valley in 2018 after the festival had been canceled by former organizers in 2017.
On its event site, Cedar Crest College lists enhanced safety measures that will be followed during the festival:
Mandatory face coverings: Masks must be worn at all times, except when eating or drinking with your designated group. Anyone not complying with this requirement will be asked to leave immediately.
Social distancing: Festivalgoers must remain 6 feet apart from others not in their party, and to bring their own chairs, as limited tables will be provided around campus. Designated pods in and around the tents/ bandstand areas will be designated where groups may set up. Groups must fit safely in the pod area and may be asked to separate, even if related, to ensure social distancing. Cleaning, disinfection: Multiple handwashing stations, hand sanitizer stations, electrostatic disinfectant sprayers, and cleaning supplies were purchased for this year’s festival. Signs will be abundant across campus to ensure festivalgoers understand coronavirus protocols.
Hours: 4-10 p.m. May 28; noon to 10 p.m. May 29-30.
