A look back at Lehigh Valley sports stories over the years from April 14.

2009: Dave Troxell resigns after 11 seasons as girls basketball coach at Catasauqua after leading the Rough Riders to a 201-108 record with three Colonial League championsh­ips, three appearance­s in the District 11 Class 2A title game and a trip to the PIAA semifinals in 2003.

2000: In a game suspended earlier in the week after three innings, Emmaus’ Shannon Williams strikes out 26 and allows just four hits in a 16-inning 5-0 victory over Dieruff, one of the longest softball games in area history.

1999: Central Catholic football coach Jim Morgans resigns his position to become head coach at Salisbury. In Morgans’ second stint at the Central (he previously coached the Vikings from 1976 to 1981), Central was 94-20 in nine seasons, winning five East Penn Conference titles, six District 11 Class 3A championsh­ips, and two PIAA crowns while reaching the Eastern finals two other times. At Salisbury, Morgans takes over a program that has won just 16 games over that same span. Overall Morgans leaves Central with a 115-76-1 mark in 15 seasons.

1994: Nolan Fry allows two hits, strikes out 17 and also drives in four runs with a pair of home runs to lead Nazareth to a 7-1 Colonial League win over Catasauqua.

1991: Emmaus boys basketball coach Bill Snyder, who led the Green Hornets to the school’s first District 11 championsh­ip in 1986 and a schoolreco­rd 27 wins in 1982, resigns after 10 years and a 114-141 record.
