Find out what liquor Lehigh Valley residents spent $7.6M on during the COVID-19 pandemic

Alcohol sales across the country surged during the COVID-19 pandemic, and the Lehigh Valley was no exception.

Sales rose 55% from the prior year in the week ending March 21, 2020, according to previous reports, citing marketing research firm Nielsen. Liquor sales were up 75% over the same period compared with the year prior, while wine and beer sales were up 66% and 42%, respective­ly.

Online orders saw a 243% increase.

Just last month, retail alcohol sales across the country declined for the first time since the start of the pandemic, according to a recent report from CNN Business, citing a recent Nielsen report. Sales dipped 1.9% for the week ending March 13.
