A look back at Lehigh Valley sports stories over the years from Oct. 6.

2006: Easton’s shutout streak ends after nearly 5 ½ games when Nazareth’s Billy Giannone throws an 18-yard touchdown pass to Kevin Kroboth with 59.6 seconds left in the first half, ending 263.4 minutes of scoreless football by the Red

Rover defense. The touchdown cuts Easton’s halftime lead to 42-7 en route to a 49-14 Red Rovers’ win behind 158 yards and two touchdowns on six carries by Jared Holley.

2001: Jill Civic and Lindsay Quay score goals as host Emmaus blanks Warwick 2-0 to snap Warwick’s 48-game field hockey winning streak.

2000: Recovering from an 0-3 start, Bethlehem Catholic rolls by Emmaus 42-7 for its third straight win but does it without head coach Bob Stem in the second half. Stem is ejected at halftime for arguing with officials as they walk off the field to the locker room.

2000: Brian Gilmore’s 24-yard field goal as time expires lifts Upper Perkiomen to a 24-21 win over Perkiomen Valley, snapping the Indians’ 21-game losing streak.

1991: Michael Andretti finishes third in the Bosch Spark Plug Grand Prix before a record crowd of 45,000 at Pennsylvania International Raceway in Nazareth but retains his lead in the season standings with one race to go.

1990: Dave Madson rushes for 135 yards and scores four touchdowns in Nazareth’s 58-13 rout at Salisbury.

1961: Future Super Bowl champion Larry Seiple catches two touchdown passes from Joe Petro and Allen ends the state’s longest winning streak with a 19-0 victory over Bishop Kenrick in Norristown. Kenrick was 23-0-1 since a 13-12 loss to Allen in 1959. Seiple goes on to play on the Miami Dolphins’ Super Bowl-winning teams in 1972 (SB VII) and 1973 (SB VIII).
