Carl V. Brown, Jr.
Carl Vincent Brown Jr. (lovingly known to his friends and family as Butchie), 65 years of age, went home to Glory on October 6, 2021. He was born on November 19,
1955 in Easton, PA to the late Pastor Carl Vincent Brown Sr. and Jean C. (Bradley) Brown. He attended Easton
Area and Whitehall High Schools where, as a stellar athlete, he was on both
the football and wrestling teams. He holds the distinction of being the first
African American to do such at Whitehall High School. Carl was a Lil Red Rovers coach for both football and baseball teams for many years. He was both coach and mentor to his teams. His love of football was demonstrated by his loyalty to the Easton Red Rovers, and he never missed the traditional Easton vs. Phillipsburg Thanksgiving Day game. He was a diehard Raiders fan, regardless of the city they were in at the time.
"Butchie" loved the Lord. He was a member of St. James AME Zion Church in Allentown, PA where he served as Chaplain of the Senior Choir, Men’s Brotherhood and any other area of the church as he was needed. As was his passion, he volunteered at many organizations in the city for the less fortunate with an energy beyond
imagination. He also loved working for Musikfest the last several years. As well as traveling with his mother after his retirement.
Carl worked for Georgia Pacific for over 28 years as a forklift operator and most recently for the Morning Call in the Easton office. He loved both R&B and Gospel music. Dancing, reminiscing and quality family time was very dear to his heart. There was always laughter and beautiful stories to tell and listen to any time friends
and family gathered together.
He was a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and spirit-filled son. Carl is survived by his mother, Jean C. (Bradley) Brown of Bethlehem, PA; a daughter, Muriel Black of Easton, PA; sons Carl Vincent Brown III of Easton, PA, Christopher Brown of Easton, PA; sisters: Dr. Roxanne Brown of Atlanta, GA, Sondra Brown of Bethlehem, PA, Lisa Brown of Bethlehem, PA,
Tara Brown of Easton, PA; 3 grandchildren: Christopher Brown Jr., Aaliyah Brown, and Carson Brown; scores of nieces and nephews, cousins, extended family and a multitude of friends.
