Carl R. Herring, 88, of Allentown passed away on October 31, 2021 at the Diakon Lutheran Home in Topton PA. He was the husband of Mary Ann (Kunkel) Herring, and they had been married for 61 years. Born in Lenhartsvi­lle PA, he was a son of the late Elton D. and Mabel (Sunday) Herring. Carl was a graduate of Kutztown High School, and then attended Penn State Center – Berks Campus and then attained his Engineerin­g Degree at Lafayette University. He then began his career at the former Western Electric Company in Allentown, working there for many years mostly in the wire bonding department. Carl was also a U. S. Air Force Veteran, serving in the Post Korea era as Staff Sergeant navigator in a B-29 bomber. Living in Allentown most of his adult life, he was a member of the Cedar Church in Cetronia. An active member of the community, he was a longtime member of the Cetronia V.F.D. and served as the membership secretary. He was a 50 year member of the Vaux Lodge # 406 Free and Accepted Masons in Hamburg PA, Valley of Reading Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, and also the Rajah Shrine.

Surviving in addition to his wife Mary Ann are sons Michael Herring, Steven Herring and wife Sharon of Allentown, a brother Irvin Herring of Lenhartsvi­lle PA, and grandchild­ren Tyler and Leah Herring. He was predecease­d by a brother Donald Herring.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, November 5th at

1:00 p.m. from the Trexler Funeral Home, 1625 Highland St., Allentown PA, with the Rev. Candi Cain-Borgman Officiatin­g. Interment Cedar Church Cemetery in Cetronia PA. A calling hour will be held at the Trexler Funeral Home on Friday from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.
