The Morning Call

Paul Marsicano

-

Paul Joseph Marsicano, known for his bright personality and gentle spirit, passed away on Saturday, surrounded by family members at the Lehigh Valley Hospital. The youngest of nine children, Paul was born to Nicholas (Nicasio) and Antonia Marsicano, on April 30th, 1927 in Hazleton, and graduated from Hazleton High School in 1945. He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Allentown.

Paul was a jack of all trades, able to fix anything from a broken clock to splintered China dishes to leaky pipes. As a plumber, he worked for Landro & Co., Yannuzzi Plumbing and Heating, and Fort Indiantown Gap. Later, he became a custodian at West Hazleton High School, where he was beloved by teachers and students alike. In Allentown, he worked at the Lehigh Valley Hospital as a greeter and cart driver. He volunteered there even past his 90th birthday, always good for a story and a smile.

Paul is survived by his wife of 74 years, Doris Palermo, and his three children: Michael Marsicano, Beverly Weber, and Alice Doran. He was known as Pops, who always had candy stashed in his pockets, to his seven grandchildren and also to his great-grandchildren as Pop-pop, who always played on the floor with them.

Paul is pre-deceased by his parents, his loving siblings, and his grandchild, Andrew Doran, who passed away in 2015 and most certainly was waiting for grandfather with a beer, and hopefully Frank Sinatra, in the heavenly afterlife.

His funeral will be held on Friday at 1 P.M. at the Joseph A. Moran Funeral Home, 229 W. 12th St., Hazleton. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 1:30 P.M in Queen of Heaven Parish at Our Lady of Grace Church, Hazleton. Entombment will be held privately at Calvary Cemetery, Drums, at a later date. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday morning from 10 A.M. until 1 P.M.
