Joseph J. Tibensky
Joseph J. Tibensky, 81, of Lehighton passed away Monday Nov. 8th in Allentown. He was the husband of Kathleen A. (Dugan) Tibensky. They were married for 58 years on Sept. 14th of this year. Born in Allentown, Pa. on Sunday, Feb. 14th, 1940, he was the son of the late Joseph & Anna (Columbo) Tibensky and was raised in Allentown. He attended Elementary School @ St. Catherine of Sienna where he sang on the school choir. He graduated from Allentown High School in 1958 & then entered the U.S. Navy for four years. He was a veteran of the Cuban Missile Crisis. After being discharged from the service he served his apprenticeship as an iron worker with Local #36, I.A.B.S & O.I.W. He worked on most of the schools, bridges, & cement mills in the Lehigh Valley & retired from the Lehigh Valley Erectors of Bath as a General Foreman. He attended SS Peter & Paul RC Church of Lehighton & was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Calvary Council #528 in Allentown. Joe held a membership with the Lehighton American Legion Post #314 and volunteered his time as a Pee-Wee and Knee-Hi football coach for the Lehighton Oklahoma Sooners. He enjoyed his weekly golf matches with his buddies & gardening as his favorite pastimes. He loved sharing his vegetables with his friends & neighbors. Surviving in addition to his wife are a son, Joseph J. Tibensky Jr. of Lehighton, 2 daughters, Kelly, wife of Chris Knappenberger of Lehighton, Kathy, wife of Tony Holland of Maryland, 5 grandchildren, Alyssa Miller of Andreas, Kris Knappenberger of Lehighton, Antonio, Jeremy, & Jasmine Holland of Maryland, 2 great-grandchildren, Kilo & Carrah Miller, nieces & nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial in his honor will be held on Sat. Nov. 13th at 10:30 a.m. at SS Peter &
Paul RC Church, 260 N. 3rd St., Lehighton with Rev. Christopher M. Zelonis & Deacon Joseph C. Wilhelm
Jr. officiating. Call 9-10:30 in the church. Full Military interment following the Mass in the parish cemetery, N. 4th St., Lehighton under the direction of the Lehighton Area UVO. Memorial Contributions in his honor may be made to American Cancer Society, 190 Welles St.
