In ’04, Easton wins 2nd football game in 3 days

2004: Playing its second game in three days, freshman Jarred Holley scores on 1-yard run with 3:41 left to lead unbeaten Easton (13-0) to a 15-10 victory over previously undefeated Philadelph­ia George Washington to reach the PIAA Class 4A Eastern football final for the second straight year.

2004: The Patriot League is wiped out in the opening round of the NCAA Division I-AA football playoffs when Lehigh loses to James Madison 14-13 at Goodman Stadium while Lafayette falls at Delaware, 28-14.

2004: Delaware Valley ties a school record with 614 total yards behind quarterbac­k Adam Knoblaugh but the unbeaten Aggies need the Tamaqua graduate’s 2-yard touchdown run with nine seconds left to beat St. John Fisher 26-20 in the second round of the NCAA Division III football playoffs. Knoblaugh sets school records with 36 completion­s, 59 attempts and 423 yards while throwing three touchdowns for Del Val, which advances to meet Rowan in the quarterfin­als.

1969: In Phillipsbu­rg’s most dominating win over their archrivals in 21 years, the Stateliner­s roll up 456 yards and limit Easton to minus-22 yards rushing in a 41-8 Thanksgivi­ng Day victory. Brian Dominic completes all 11 of his pass attempts and throws four touchdown passes for Phillipsbu­rg, which enjoys its largest margin of victory over Easton since a 48-0 win in 1948.

1969: Slatington caps its first-ever unbeaten season and defends its Lehigh Valley League title by belting Palmerton 62-0. The Bulldogs score three defensive touchdowns and force nine turnovers (three intercepti­ons, six fumbles). Glenn Parry scores four touchdowns while Don Rubright throws two scoring passes.
