Joan D. (Clewell) Ruth

Joan D. Ruth, 89, of Allentown, passed away Tuesday, January 25, 2022, in LV Hospital, Cedar

Crest Blvd., Salisbury Twp. surrounded by family.

She was the wife of the late Robert F. Ruth, Jr.

Born in Allentown, she was a daughter of the late William and Hilda (Borger) Clewell. Joan was a graduate of Allentown HS, class of 1950. She was a secretary for HT Lyons for many years before retiring. Previously, Joan worked at Hess’ Downtown and Bon Ton. She was a long-time member of St. James UCC, Allentown, where she was a member of the Altar Guild. Joan was an active member of Union Terrace Athletic Club and was a former board member. She was an avid bowler, loved sports and attending her grandchildren’s events. Joan

also enjoyed gardening and bird watching.

Survivors: Daughter: Lori E. Krempasky and her husband Frank of Whitehall; Sons: Jeffrey R. Ruth and his wife Trisha of Easton, David A. Ruth and his wife Terri of Salisbury Twp.; Grandchildren: Jeffrey R. Ruth, Jr., Jeremy M. Ruth, Derek D. Ruth and his

wife Catherine, Tanner R. Ruth, Kelsey E. Krempasky; Great-granddaughters: Annabelle M. Ruth, Kennedy L. Ruth; Sister: Shirley Hance and her husband Peter of

FL; Brother: Robert Clewell and his wife Sue of VA. Joan was predeceased by a sister Mary Peters and a brother William Clewell. Joan is also survived by nieces and nephews.

Services: noon Friday, January 28, 2022 at St. James UCC, 37 S. 15th St., Allentown 18102. Calling hours 11 – noon in the church. Arrangements by Stephens Funeral
