Shirley A. (Stauffer) Van Horn

Shirley A. Van Horn, 74, of Bushkill Township, formerly of Nazareth, was stricken at home and passed away suddenly at Lehigh Valley Hospital – Hecktown Oaks in Lower Nazareth Township on Saturday, January 08, 2022. Shirley was the wife of the late Clarence A. Van Horn, Sr., with whom she shared 46 years of marriage prior to his death in 2014. Born in Fountain Hill, Shirley was a daughter of the late Elwood S. Stauffer, Sr. and Eleanor (Silfies) Stauffer Kline. She attended Nazareth High School. A member of the Internatio­nal Ladies’ Garment Workers’ Union, Shirley was employed for more than 35 years at various mills in the region, before retiring from the former Tatamy Garment Co. Although she enjoyed playing bingo and cards, as well as going to the casino, Shirley absolutely loved spending time with her family and always looked forward to gatherings on holidays.

Survivors: She will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by her three daughters, Sheila Van Luvender and husband, John, of Nazareth, Sarah Pittenger and husband, William, with whom she resided, and Sally Mengel and husband, David, of Bushkill Township; nine grandchild­ren; seven great-grandchild­ren; two brothers, Stanley “Whitey” Stauffer, Sr. and wife, Darlene, of Bushkill Township, and Michael Stauffer and wife, Debbie, of Jacksonvil­le, North Carolina; three sisters, Dorothy “Dolly” Horack of Bushkill Township, Debra

Bruch and husband, Rodney, of Belfast, and Darlene Anthony of Nazareth; sister-in-law, Marian Miller of Lower Nazareth Township; son, Clarence A. “Butch” Van Horn, Jr.; along with many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Clarence, she was predecease­d by an infant daughter, Shelly; a grandson, Bryon Richards, Jr.; two brothers, Edward G. Sr. and Elwood S. Stauffer, Jr.

Services: A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, February 01, 2022, at 11:00 A.M. in Northampto­n Memorial Shrine Cemetery, 3051 Green Pond Road, Eaton, PA 18045. There will be no calling hours. Arrangemen­ts are under the care and direction of the GEORGE G. BENSING FUNERAL HOME, LLC, in the Village of Moorestown – Bath.
