Joe Provini will be Northampton’s next varsity wrestling head coach pending Monday’s school board approval.

The Nazareth assistant coach and Northampton High School U.S. history and AP English Language teacher replaces Seth Lisa, who stepped down in March after 11 seasons in charge at his alma mater.

Provini is a 2003 Nazareth graduate who spent the last 12 years on head coach Dave Crowell’s Blue Eagles staff. He was a 2003 District 11 champion, state sixth-place finisher and District 11’s Wrestling Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

The Shippensburg University graduate has been instrumental in Nazareth’s success, which includes two PIAA team tournament titles and 2022 team championships at the District 11, Northeast Regional and PIAA individual tournaments.

This will be Provini’s first head coaching job. He lives in Bethlehem with his wife Sara and daughter Mattingly.

According to Northampton’s school board agenda, Provini will be paid $12,353 annually.

Lisa was 124-60 in his 11 seasons at Northampton, including 13-2 this year.

Provini inherits a Konkrete Kids program in great shape.

Rising seniors Dagen Condomitti and Carson Wagner were state medalists this season. Austin Noe, Mason Basara, Devlin

Chevere, Aiden Micheli, Landon Roland, Kody Ziegenfus and Carson Czarnecki are among other returnees for Northampton, which was third in the EPC and District 11 Class 3A behind state No. 1 Bethlehem Catholic and No. 2 Nazareth.

The Konkrete Kids have had at least one state medalist the last 39 years, a state record.

Northampton’s junior high program was 20-1 this season and ran away with the District 11 team title under state coach of the year Jim Derr. Trey Wagner, Carson’s younger brother, was among four district champions.
