Norman J. Blose
Norman J. Blose, 89, of Orefield, died Tuesday, May 10, 2022 at Complete Care at Lehigh, Macungie. He was the husband of Katherine E. (Wenner) Blose to whom he was married 66 years. Born in Slatedale, September 25, 1932, Norman was the son of the late Ernest P. and Helen M. (Schleicher) Blose. He faithfully and honorably served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War with a rank of Corporal. Norman was employed as a truck driver at the Lehigh Valley Dairy in Allentown for 34 years before retiring. Active in the life of his church and community, Norman was a member of Heidelberg Union Church, Slatington, where he served as President of the Consistory for several terms, taught Sunday School, served as youth advisor, HARP leader, and served on the cemetery and property committees. He also was an associate member of Promisedland Protestant Community Church where he served as President of the Board of Trustees and member of the property committee. Norman was a 25-year fire police volunteer for the Goodwill Fire Co. #1, Germansville where he held the title of Captain for 10 of those years. He was a former Scout Master for Boy Scout Troop # 88, Heidelberg Union Church. Survivors: In addition to his loving wife, Katherine; children, Mary Ellen Krause (David), Daniel C. Blose (Suzanne), Mark N. Blose (Annamaria), Joanna K. Blose; sister, Eleanor M.B. Williams (William), step-sister, Donna; step-brother, Bruce; grandchildren, Samuel, Brian and Steven Krause, Nathan Meghan, Katie, Matthew and Marissa Blose; greatgrandchildren, Nathan, Molly, Guage, Bryar, Grace, Charlotte, Cora, Landon, Kennedy, Leo; beloved nieces and nephews, predeceased by sisters, Sandra E. Hahn, Shirley Fedak. Service: Funeral services will be held 3:00 pm. Sunday, May 15, 2022 at Heidelberg Union Church, 5187 Irvin Road, Slatington with the Rev. Michelle G. Funk officiating. Family and friends may pay their respects from 1:00 pm. – 3:00 pm. Sunday in the church. Private interment will take place at Heidelberg Union Cemetery, Slatington.
