LVHN to open new hospital in Lackawanna County

- — Leif Greiss

Lehigh Valley Health Network cut the ribbon at its new Lehigh Valley Hospital-Dickson City location Tuesday.

The hospital along Main Street in Dickson City is 100,000 square feet with a 19-bay emergency room and helipad. LVHN has planned for the hospital to have a surgical specialty focus and there are seven operating rooms and two procedure rooms. LVHN spokespeople did not immediately respond to a request for the opening date of the facility.

Surgical and procedural programs that will be offered at this campus include spine, joint replacement, general orthopedic, hand, otolaryngology, urology, bariatric and gastro-intestinal surgeries.

The Lackawanna County facility also has in-house medical imaging technology including CT, ultrasound, X-ray and fluoroscopy. Telemedicine and virtual care is to be provided out of the hospital too.

The new hospital has created more than 250 new jobs, a news release from LVHN states. Kim Jordan, a nurse with more than 30 years of experience, has been named president of the hospital.

“This campus will be an indispensable part of the community, healing its residents and helping them live their best lives,” said Dr. Michael Rossi, LVHN’s executive vice president and chief clinical officer.

LVHN’s Health Center at Dickson City is also part of the new hospital campus. The center offers outpatient MRI, rehabilitation and pain management services as well as outpatient orthopedic care through the in-house Coordinated Health Scranton Orthopedics.

LVH-Dickson City is yet another piece in LVHN’s expansion game and the network has another hospital, LVH-Carbon in Carbon County set to open at some point later this year. The Morning Call reported that LVHN is pursuing plans to put a small hospital in Lower Macungie Township.
