Maripat Hickey

Maripat Hickey, 84, of Bethlehem, died peacefully on May 21, 2022 at Lehigh Valley Muhlenberg. Born on May 14, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Martha (Holland) and Elbert G. “Hickey” Hickey.

Being young at heart and full of whimsy, Maripat had a special gift for bringing joy to children. She was a Sister of St. Francis of Philadelph­ia for many years and taught 1st and 2nd grade in Eastern PA where she met her lifelong friends Sr Helen Subach and Sr Barbara Lucas. Following the sisterhood, Maripat went on to have a long career as maintenanc­e manager with Lucent where she was well-respected for her kind leadership by colleagues. She enjoyed travel, visiting casinos, golfing and bowling.

Throughout Maripat's life she had many pets and she loved every single one of them with all of her being. King, Duffy, Dillon, Fieran, Finian, Cornelius, Jake, and Brendan were all lucky to have her.

She will be lovingly remembered by her cousins, Nanci Jeanne Fenselau (Fred), Janeann Hudson (Dermot), Matthew Fenselau, Megan Pildis (Jeremy), Sophia Pildis, Ezra Pildis, Timothy Rosenberge­r (Alice), Jon Rosenberge­r,

Dianna Hoffman, and a close family friend, Sheila Hart.

She was preceded in death by her aunts and uncles, Alice, Jean and Joseph Holland and Eddie and Nancy Lewis; cousin, Barbara Ann Lewis.

There will be a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, May 27, 2022 beginning at 10:00 a.m. at

Notre Dame Catholic Church, 1861 Catasauqua Road, Bethlehem, PA 18018, immediatel­y followed by internment, and then a luncheon and time for sharing beginning 12:00 p.m. at Prime Steakhouse located at 325 Stoke Park Road, Bethlehem PA 18017.

In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to St. Jude's Children Hospital, www.stjude.org. Arrangemen­ts have been entrusted to Connell Funeral Home.
