Class 3A semifinals

Pleasant Valley proved its victory over last year’s District 11 3A champ Easton in the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference semifinals was anything but a one-off.

Coach Toni Bush’s Bears beat Easton 14-12 in Monday’s district semifinal at Northampton’s Al Erdosy Stadium to reach its first District 11 final in program history. Senior Alexandra Bush broke a 12-all tie with 2 minutes, 10 seconds remaining as No. 3 seed Pleasant Valley rallied from several second-half deficits.

The Bears (16-5) move on to play top seed Emmaus (18-3) for the Class 3A crown in a rematch of the EPC final. That showdown is set for 7 p.m. on Wednesday at Lehigh.

Emmaus eliminated No. 5 Parkland 20-4 in Monday’s other semifinal in Northampton.

Pleasant Valley persevered against the Red Rovers and Bears coach Toni Bush said Easton was much more aggressive than it was in the conference playoffs.

“This game was ridiculous; it was insanity,” Bush said. “I can’t give Easton enough credit. They beat up on us and we had a hard time dealing with their aggressiveness.

“We used it to our advantage, though. We were super composed and super clean.”

Alexandra Bush played her usual all-around excellent game for the Bears. She finished with 13 draw controls, seven goals and an assist. Senior Brielle McInaw contributed four goals, all on free-position shots.

Sophomore Jocelyn Morgan led coach Michelle Mihalko’s second-seeded Easton team (14-6) with five goals and junior Reese Krieger added four tallies.

In the 3A nightcap Emmaus earned its third win over rival Parkland this season and its second mercy-rule rout of the postseason.

Coach Roxann Betz’s Green Hornets bested Parkland 16-2 in the EPC semifinals May 10.

Pleasant Valley then edged Emmaus 11-9 in the conference championship game May 12.
