Home woes persist

The Lehigh Valley IronPigs (34-29) dropped their fourth straight game on Thursday evening as they lost 3-2 to the Buffalo Bisons (36-26). They are now 11-16 at home this season.

IronPigs starting pitcher Ricardo Sanchez and Bisons starter Joe Biagini both threw three scoreless innings to start the game.

Logan Warmoth gave Buffalo a 1-0 lead against Sanchez in the top of the fourth inning with an RBI single that scored Tanner Morris.

The Bisons extended their lead to 2-0 in the top of the sixth inning as Stevie Berman hit a home run against Sanchez. The home run for Berman was his second of the season. Sanchez left the game after allowing two runs over six innings of work.

Bowden Francis (4-4) pitched 3⅔ innings of relief without allowing a run. He gave up three hits and struck out one batter before Mike Ellenbest took over with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning. Buffalo added another urn in the top of the seventh inning to take a 3-0 lead. Warmoth scored on an RBI groundout against Zach Warren.

Lehigh Valley scored a run against Ellenbest in the bottom of the eighth inning as Dalton Guthrie hit an RBI single that scored Scott Kingery. Kingery led off the inning with a double. Kingery struck again with a home run in the bottom of the ninth inning, his second with Lehigh Valley. The home run cut Buffalo’s lead to 3-2.

Adrian Hernandez earned his seventh save of the season by pitching 1 innings in relief.

Next up: The IronPigs were to conclude their six-game series against the Bisons at Coca-Cola Park with games on Friday (7:05 p.m.), Saturday (6:35 p.m.) and Sunday (1:35 p.m.).
