Parkland and Northweste­rn Lehigh still unbeaten

The Cedar Beach Basketball Showcase, also known as the Bash at the Beach, is now less than a week away.

The summer’s first major varsity scholastic basketball tournament begins Thursday night and for the first time all summer it is scheduled to be held outdoors.

Meanwhile, the Lehigh Valley High School Summer Basketball League completed its fifth week of action Thursday night in the Whitehall-Coplay School District gymnasiums.

In the biggest game of the night, Northweste­rn Lehigh beat Saucon Valley 57-50 in overtime in a battle of the unbeatens.

Also, in a battle of two of the area’s best programs, Notre DameGreen Pond beat Executive Education 71-45 behind a 27-point effort by Zach Rodgers.
