Cardi B set to perform at Wind Creek Event Center
Bethlehem’s Wind Creek Event Center is about to host one of the most influential female rappers of all time.
Grammy-winner Cardi B — whose candid, in-yourface lyrics are drawn from her life growing up in the South Bronx, N.Y. — will bring her tour to Wind Creek on Sunday. It’s a dress rehearsal for her upcoming European tour.
Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Wednesday.
Her rise to fame began in 2013, when she gained publicity as her videos went viral on social media. She then was cast as part of the VH1 reality show “Love & Hip Hop: New York” from 2015 to 2017.
From there, Cardi B’s career as a musical artist took off. Her first album, “Invasion of Privacy (2018),” debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and was named the No. 1 female rap album of the 2010s by Billboard. The LP was praised by critics and it won her a Grammy Award for Best Rap Album as a solo artist, a first as a woman.
Her song “Bodak Yellow” made her the first female rapper to achieve a diamond-certified song by the Recording Industry Association of America and the first to top the Hot 100 with a solo output in 19 years, while “I Like It” was the first time a female rapper attained multiple number-one songs on the chart.
Her collaboration with Maroon 5 on “Girls Like You” made her the only female rapper to achieve multiple diamond-certified songs by the RIAA.
Her list of other honors includes: She is the female rapper with the most No. 1 singles (five) on the Billboard Hot 100, the only to achieve multiple number ones with solo songs and the only to achieve number ones in two decades (2010s and 2020s) on the chart. Along with her Grammy, she’s won eight Billboard Music Awards, six Guinness World Records, six American Music Awards, fourteen BET Hip Hop Awards, and two ASCAP Songwriter of the Year awards.
Tickets: $74.50 standing room general admission and $104.50 for seated wings (plus fees). There are also luxury seating options. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Wednesday.
