Bonnie L. Spayd, Shawn Furman
The Manufacturers Resource Center recently announced the addition of Bonnie L. Spayd of Bernville as regional director, manufacturing solutions for Berks and Schuylkill counties and Shawn Furman of Fogelsville as advanced manufacturing technology strategy manager.
Spayd will focus on Manufacturers Resource Center business services, grant and funding opportunities, and training and certification programs for manufacturers in Berks and Schuylkill counties. She will also lead industry partners to promote careers in manufacturing in the middle schools with the “What’s So Cool About Manufacturing?” Student Video Contest.
Prior to joining the center, Spayd served as coordinator of continuing education and workforce development at Penn State Schuylkill, Schuykill Haven; executive director of business & industry programs, Schmidt Training & Technology Center at Reading Area Community College and director, business development with the Manufacturers Association, Reading. She earned her bachelor of science and master of education in biological sciences degrees from Kutztown University.
Furman will lead and guide manufacturers in advanced technologies that enhance quality, boost productivity, encourage innovation, and reduce production time. Today that also includes digital transformation, automation and robotics, and IT integration that enables innovation and smart manufacturing, driving extraordinary outcomes for customers.
Prior to joining Manufacturers Resource Center, Furman held positions of leadership at Boston Beer as manager, electrical and automation engineering, and senior automation engineer. At Ainsworth Pet Nutrition, he held positions as director, maintenance & engineering, and maintenance manager. Earlier in his career, he held engineering positions at The Hershey Company.
He attended Penn State Erie, The Behrend College, and earned his bachelor of science in electrical engineering.
