EPC girls and boys tournament pairings set

Allentown’s PPL Center will again be the venue for the Eastern Pennsylvan­ia Conference girls and boys basketball tournament semifinals and finals next week.

The EPC will take over the arena for three nights of doublehead­ers with the EPC girls semifinals on Monday night, the boys semifinals on Tuesday, and a girlboy championsh­ip twin bill on Thursday.

In addition, the league released the pairings for Friday night’s quarterfin­als.

In the girls tournament, No. 1 seed Easton (22-0, 16-0) will host No. 8 Stroudsbur­g (13-9, 9-7) at 6 p.m.; No. 4 Parkland (15-7, 13-3) will host No. 5 Bethlehem Catholic (14-8, 11-5) at 5:35 p.m.; No. 3 Allentown Central Catholic (19-3, 14-2) welcomes No. 6 Nazareth (12-10, 10-6) at 6 p.m. and No. 2 Pocono Mountain West (20-1, 15-1) entertains No. 7 Emmaus (13-9, 10-6) at 6 p.m.

The Easton-Stroudsbur­g and Parkland-Becahi winners will meet at 8 p.m. Monday in the second game of the semifinal doublehead­er. The ACCHS-Nazareth and Pocono Mountain West-Emmaus winners meet in the 6 p.m. opener.

In the boys tournament, the quarterfin­al matchups have No. 1 Emmaus (18-4, 14-2) hosting No. 8 Liberty (14-8, 10-6) at 7 p.m., No. 4 ACCHS (14-8, 11-5) entertaini­ng No. 5 Freedom (15-7, 11-5) at 7:45 p.m.; No. 6 Bethlehem Catholic (15-6, 11-5) visiting No. 3 Parkland (13-7, 12-4) at 7:05 p.m. and No. 7 East Stroudsbur­g South (17-5, 11-5) traveling to Monroe County rival and No. 2 seed Pocono Mountain West (18-4, 13-3) at 7:30 p.m.

When the scene shifts to PPL Center on Tuesday night, the Parkland-Becahi winner will play the Pocono Mountain WestEast Stroudsbur­g South winner in the first game of the semifinal doublehead­er at 6 followed at 8 by the Emmaus-Liberty winner going against the ACCHS-Freedom winner.
