Shapiro to address LVEDC meeting

-

Gov. Josh Shapiro will deliver an address at the Lehigh Valley Economic Development Corporation’s annual meeting March 21.

Shapiro’s appearance at the meeting will be the first by a Pennsylvania governor. The annual meeting celebrates the Lehigh Valley’s economic successes while also addressing its “key issues,” according to a news release.

“We are honored to have Governor Shapiro address the Lehigh Valley’s economic development coalition so early in his tenure,” said Don Cunningham, president and CEO of LVEDC. “Throughout his career, the governor has been a regular visitor to the Lehigh Valley. He understands our economy and the region’s strength in the Commonwealth.”

Shapiro, who was sworn in as Pennsylvania’s governor in early January after handily defeating Republican candidate Doug Mastriano in the November general election, delivered his first annual state budget on March 7.

The meeting will also feature an address from Congresswoman Susan Wild, a roundtable discussion with the mayors of Allentown, Bethlehem and Easton, and a forum with four young Lehigh Valley area workers.

The annual meeting at the ArtsQuest Center in south Bethlehem begins at 3:30 pm, with registration starting at 2:30 pm. The link to register for the event is here.

A watershed is an area of land that drains or“sheds”water into a specific body of water. Watersheds drain rainfall and snowmelt into streams and rivers, with smaller bodies of water flowing into larger ones, from creeks and lakes to rivers and oceans. Gravity helps to guide the path that water takes across the landscape.
