The conversati­on will focus specifical­ly on the section of the book acting out the messages of Mark and John. These community gatherings will be informal and include soup, salad, and bread. ESSENCE 2, a community-based choir based in State College, will present a concert of African American sacred and secular music at 4 p.m. today at College

Hill Presbyteri­an Church, 501 Brodhead St., Easton, in collaborat­ion with First Presbyteri­an Church of Bethlehem. The 70-voice choir includes singers from high school age to elders, and is directed by Anthony T. Leach, professor emeritus of music/music education at Penn State. He founded Essence 2 as an extension of the Essence of Joy Choir, which he founded and directed while serving as conductor of the Penn State University Choir from 1994–2015. Leach also coordinate­d the African American Music Festival at Penn State. The concert will also feature numbers by the Chancel Choirs of College Hill and First Presbyteri­an Church.
