Jeanette C (Roux) Seaman
Born August 9, 1937 in New London,
Conn, Jeanette (Jan) C. Roux passed away peacefully on May 1, 2023. She was married to William A. (Bill) Seaman in 1958. Jan and Bill met on what must have been the world's worst blind date and reconnected almost a year later. It was love at second sight! After graduation from Chatham University, she and Bill moved to Lancaster and later lived in Wilkes Barre and Lebanon, PA, Uxbridge England, Allentown and Bethlehem, PA In 2021 they moved to Davidson, NC. Jan taught primary grades in public schools and in a second career became Director of the Center for Independent Living in Allentown, retiring in 2000. She was first and foremost, a wise woman, but also a caring daughter, mother and life partner. Active in her Christian communities, she chaired the Board of Directors of Penn Northeast Conference of the United Church of Christ, was the recipient of the Raker Award of the Good Shepard Hospital and co-recipient with her husband of the Wallenberg Tribute of the Institute for Jewish Christian Understanding at Muhlenberg College in Allentown, PA. She was treasured, appreciated and loved by colleagues, friends and family. She is survived by her husband William A. Seaman of Davidson, NC, Daughter Gabrielle Seaman of Davidson, NC dear cousins in Connecticut and Washington and predeceased by son Gregory Seaman and brother Maurice Roux, Jr. Services will be held in Davidson, NC and burial in her home state of Connecticut. Family requests in lieu of flowers donations may be made to Good Shepard Hospital or Lehigh Valley Center for Independent Living.
