Pairings are set for EPC tourney

The Eastern Pennsylvan­ia Conference softball tournament field has been set and Thursday’s quarterfin­al-round matchups have been determined.

It came down to power rankings using EPC games to break ties, especially the five-way deadlock among 9-7 teams for the eight and final spot. There was also a three-way among 12-4 teams for the second spot.

There will be a new champion since last year’s champ, Parkland, didn’t make the field.

First, the final EPC standings:

Semifinals and finals

The semifinals will be played in a doublehead­er at Patriots Park on Monday night.

The Stroudsbur­g-Freedom winner will play the Liberty-Nazareth survivor in the first game at 5 followed by a matchup featuring the Northampto­n-Emmaus winner against the Easton-Whitehall winner.

The championsh­ip game is set for Patriots Park at 7 p.m. May 18.

EPC baseball pairings will be announced Wednesday morning.
