Jill Sobule, Nancy Wilson’s Heart and Circle Jerks

The top 3 Lehigh Valleyarea concerts this week bring out three very different, yet highly influentia­l acts in their respective scenes. First, a singer-songwriter who gained mainstream popularity in the mid ‘90s who does great work for the LGBTQIA community. Then, a band that has topped the charts in four successive decades, starting in the ‘70s. And last, one of the founding bands of the hardcore punk movement that began in the late ‘70s, and gained momentum throughout the ‘80s.

Jill Sobule will perform at Godfrey Daniels in Bethlehem at 8 p.m. on Friday.

“Island of Lost Things,” was listed by Rolling Stone as one of the “best country & americana songs you need to hear right now.”

Honors: Heart has had several Top 40 hits including, “”Magic Man,” “Crazy on You,” “Barracuda,” “What About Love, ” Never,” and, “All I Wanna Do Is Make Love to You.” And their songs, “These Dreams,” and “Alone” went to number one on the charts. They’ve had 10 albums on the Billboard 200 and have sold over 35 million records. Nancy Wilson sang on Heart’s first number one single, “These Dreams,” and has composed music for a number of films including “Say Anything,” “Almost Famous,” and, “Jerry Maguire.” Heart was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2012.
