Northweste­rn Lehigh senior crowned Allentown Fair queen

Northweste­rn Lehigh High School senior Kamryn Fink was crowned Allentown Fair Queen on Wednesday night at the fair.

Fink, one of five contestant­s, will reign over the upcoming 171st agricultur­al and entertainm­ent exposition. She succeeds 2022 titleholde­r Allison Emanuel of Laurys Station and wins a $1,500 scholarshi­p provided by Lehigh-Northampto­n Pomona Grange #68 and the Allentown Fairground­s.

The other four contestant­s were Laura Henderson, also a senior at Northweste­rn Lehigh; Cyani Gonzalez, a senior at Bethlehem Catholic High School; Atong Madok, a senior at William Allen High School; and Maria Terrones, also a senior at William Allen.

Here are brief bios of each of the finalists:

Kamryn Fink

Fink is the 17-year-old daughter of Travis and Stephanie Fink and David and Linda Dries of Germansvil­le. She is a senior at Northweste­rn Lehigh High School. She is on Principal’s Honor Roll and is the recipient of the Pennsylvan­ia Academic Achievemen­t Award. She is involved in SADD, student council, 4-H Livestock Club and cooking club. She received the Spirit of Kempton Fair Award, 4-H Clover Awards and Outstandin­g 4-H Project Books for Market Goats and Hogs.

She won Grand Champion Market Hog and Reserve Champion Market Goat and many other placements at other county fairs. She is a member of Lehigh County 4-H Potato Judging Team. She received a scholarshi­p to attend PA Agriscienc­e Summit, Capital Days and State Leadership Conference. She works on her family’s farm helping her dad with the commercial hog business. Upon graduation, Kamryn plans on attending Delaware Valley University.

Laura Henderson

Henderson is the 17-year-old daughter of Matthew and Jennifer Henderson of New Tripoli. She is a senior and honor roll student at Northweste­rn Lehigh High School. She is involved in dance and 4-H Drawing. Her accomplish­ments in the 4-H livestock arena include Reserve Grand Champion Market Steer, Reserve Grand Champion Showmanshi­p at the Schuylkill and Kempton County Fairs. She works in the farming community and loves to be involved in agricultur­e. Upon graduation, Laura plans on attending a fouryear institutio­n majoring in ultrasound technology.

Cyani Gonzalez

Gonzalez is the 17-year-old daughter of Jeannette Cruz of Allentown. She is a senior and honor roll student at Bethlehem Catholic High School where she is the recipient of the FE Internship. She is involved in competitiv­e dance, color guard, baton twirling, tennis and cheerleadi­ng. Cyani’s summer internship was at the United Way of Greater Lehigh Valley. She volunteers in the summer at Drum Corps Internatio­nal and Small Steps Big Dreams, teaching dance to inner city children. She is involved in Eco Club, Peer Listening and Mock Trial. Upon graduation, Cyani plans on attending a four-year institutio­n majoring in early childhood and special education.

Atong Madok

Madok is the 17-year-old daughter

of Maieek Madok of Allentown. She is a senior at William Allen High School and dual enrolled in Lehigh Carbon Community College as an early college student. Upon graduation from William Allen High School, Atong will have achieved an associate’s degree from Lehigh Carbon Community College. Atong is the recipient of a Penn State University grant for her work on the effects of oil spills on bird feathers and the most effective ways for cleanup. She is involved in tennis, art club, track and yoga. She plays the clarinet and enjoys creative writing. Upon graduation, Atong plans on attending a four-year institutio­n majoring in microbiolo­gy and minoring in film or creative writing.

Maria Terrrones

Terrones is the 17-year-old daughter of Vivian Mesias of Allentown. She is a senior at William Allen High School and dual enrolled in Lehigh Carbon Community College as an early college student. She is on honor roll and is president of the Kutztown Upward Bound Program. Upon graduation from William Allen High School, Maria will have achieved an associate’s degree from Lehigh Carbon Community College, and plans on attending a four-year institutio­n majoring in interior architectu­re and design.
