John William Stenroos, 81, of Coopersbur­g, passed away on Friday, September 15th with his family by his side. John was preceded in death by his parents Waino J. and Helen E. (Mitchell) Stenroos of Coopersbur­g, sisters Margaret Guttman of Sellersvil­le, and Helen Rikli of Center Valley. John was born on August 16, 1942, and graduated from Southern Lehigh High School in 1960. After graduation, he started working at Allen Organ Co. in Macungie, staining and finishing organs for 7 years prior to working 37 years at Merck Sharp and Dohme in Lansdale. John served in many positions at Merck gaining much knowledge and respect in sanitation operations for the various department­s. John, who was also known as “Sonny” and “The Doctor”, was an avid outdoorsma­n and enjoyed hunting and fishing, which were his passions in life. He was a beloved husband and father who raised two sons who also continued his passion for the outdoors.

Survivors: John will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 60 years, Bonnie; sons: Scott

(wife Tory) of Macungie and Bob (wife Dana) of Emmaus; siblings: brothers Joseph of Santee,

CA, and Jim (wife Donna) of Coopersbur­g, sisters Mary Smith (husband Joe) of Ocala, FL, Elizabeth Wagner of Waverly, NY, Janet Wagner (husband John) of Quakertown, brothers-in-law Dave Guttman of Sellersvil­le, and Greg Rikli of Center Valley; and five grandchild­ren: Ainsley, Jordan, Lauren, Taylor, and Penny; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributi­ons may be made to the American Stroke Associatio­n at www.stroke.org and/or the charity of your choice.
