Allentown Kiwanis Foundation awards grants
The Kiwanis Foundation of Allentown recently awarded $10,000 in grants to local organizations to fund efforts in support of needy children in the Allentown community. The Kiwanis Foundation has provided over $1 million in grants to support local needy children for since being established in 1952.
Awards were given to Boys and Girls Club of Allentown for “Make Your M.A.R.K”, a reading and math program; Community Action Lehigh Valley to cover the costs of painting a mural at the Sixth Street Shelter in Allentown; Community Music School for music lesson scholarships; Lehigh Christian Academy for the purchase of Hovercam document cameras; Lehigh County Historical Society for museum history in-school program and tours; Minsi Trails Boy Scouts Council for the “Scouting for Food” program; Salvation Army for backpacks and school supplies for city school children; SATORI for their“Gift of Music” instrument donation program; the Visiting Nurse Association of St. Luke’s for purchase of books for Child Awareness Month; The Kindness Project of Emmaus to purchase supplies for their foster care program; Phantoms Charities
to purchase equipment for the Sled Hockey Program and Pratyush Sinha Foundation for Mindful Child Initiative classes.
In addition, $1,000 college scholarships will be awarded to Key Club members at William Allen, Allentown Central Catholic, Brandywine Heights, Salisbury, Southern Lehigh High Schools at graduation next spring.
Allentown Kiwanis Club member Karen Baker received the 2023 “Distinguished Service Award” for her many hours of service and involvement with club programs and activities during the year.
