Lehigh Valley garage turned into a $699,000 home
A Lehigh County home with a unique look is capturing attention online after a popular TikTok user featured it in a video recently.
User Zillowtastrophes, who showcases “hidden gems and downright catastrophes” for home listings, featured a Fountain Hill listing.
The two-bedroom, 4,100-square-foot property at 600 N. Hoffert St. is a converted garage that once housed a cabinet shop. It is listed at roughly $699,000.
The TikTok user, who has more than 700,000 followers, noted the kitchen looked like a break room, and that the main living space was chaotic, and that it looked like a “furniture store.” Several viewers responded that they liked the home but not the price.
However, the real estate listing explains that the property was transformed into a “loft-style” residence with space for both living and working.
“Want to work from home? This property could be ideal for your in-home business,” the listing reads in part. “Leading out of the kitchen, you will be greeted by a large open space where you can dare to dream and put your creativity to work.”
Among the possible uses suggested for that large open space: a day care, offices, a dance studio or even a gym, though the listing notes that potential buyers should do their due diligence with the borough.
The property is zoned “town center,” which allows the unique arrangement, according to Selena Darraugh, a real estate agent who listed the property. That designation provides for mixed uses and promotes “pedestrian-friendly commercial activities,” according to the borough’s zoning code.
As for the residential space, highlights include a large kitchen and walk-in closet. The owner has designated space for two bedrooms, a large living area, exercise area, laundry and even a spot to park a car, according to the listing.
The property is near Broadway and not far from Bethlehem’s South Side.
“Envision all the room you will have to entertain your family and friends!” the listing reads. “Schedule your showing of this one-of-akind property and bring your imagination!”
