Penny Marlene Ditri, 63, of Mountain

Top, PA passed away peacefully on Friday, February 23. Born in Warren, MI on June 8, 1960, she was the daughter of the late Ernest Lee and Jo Helen (Dowell) Slate. Her parents and twin sister, Anna Darlene Barrett, preceded her in death.

Penny was an accomplished seamstress, most recently working as the wardrobe manager at Wind Creek Casino in Bethlehem, PA. She enjoyed using her sewing skills to costume for plays and musicals at local community theaters, costuming her kids and grandkids at halloween, and making costumes for Comic-con. She also made 100s of masks when there was a shortage during the Covid pandemic. Penny enjoyed crafting, baking, reading, traveling and telling stories. If you had a craft idea, but no clue how to make it happen, it was not uncommon to say to her, “If you were going to make “insert craft,” how would you do it?” and 24 hours later the item would appear as if by magic.

Penny is survived by her husband of 42 years, Anthony and her children Rebecca (Ed) Walsh, Rachael (Jeremy) Basescu, and Joseph (Sarah) Ditri. She is also remembered by her 6 grandchildren, Erin, Nathan, Gabby, Sadie, Leo and Ellie who knew her simply as Nana.

Memorial service will be held at McCune Funeral Home in Mountain Top, PA. Friends and family may call from 10-11am, with a short service following to begin at 11:00am.

Penny loved buying toys for the kids and grandkids and always provided toys to different charitable organizations. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Unicornicopia. https://thegivingunicorn.org/
