UGI gas line upgrades in Lehigh Valley set to begin March 1

UGI Utilities Inc. will begin natural gas main replacement projects Friday along several streets in Allentown, Bethlehem, Easton and Nazareth, the company said Monday.

The work is part of UGI’s commitment to provide safe and reliable service, the company said in a news release. Work could stretch until early May and as long as mid-July, depending on location, weather and other factors.

Construction is scheduled weekdays. Motorists and merchants could experience road closures, detours and traffic delays during construction. Parking will be restricted. There will be some interruptions to natural gas service, which will require UGI to have access to properties to inspect and relight equipment.

Following are the affected streets listed for each community, with anticipated completion dates.

Allentown

Construction is scheduled to be completed by late June.
